BERKELEY- The California women's soccer team (2-3-1) dropped its first home match of the season Sunday afternoon falling 1-0 to Cal State Fullerton (2-3-3).
In a match that saw 28 total shots, with 15 on goal, the tale would come down to an unfortunate bounce in the 72nd minute. The Titans found themselves inside the Golden Bears' 18 and fired off a shot that found the hand of a Cal defender to set up a penalty kick. Kaylin Robinson stepped to the spot and netted the only goal of the match to give CSF its second-straight win.
Cal has only allowed two goals at Edwards Stadium this year and both came via the penalty kick. The Bears hold a 7-2 goal differential at home with two shutouts.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Teagan Wy was one shy of tying her career-high with seven saves in the match.
The Bears won the shot battle 17-11 and placed seven on frame but were held scoreless for the second-straight match. Junior
Karlie Lema led the team with five shots, three of which were on goal, and fellow junior
Ari Manrique forced the Titans' keeper to make saves on all three of her shots. CSF showed off its efficiency by putting eight of its 11 shots on frame.
