September 23 Cal-Washington Kickoff At 7:30 PM
ESPN To Televise Golden Bears And Huskies Matchup In Seattle
BERKELEY – California's Pac-12 Conference opener and next road game at Washington on Saturday, Sept. 23 will kick off from Alaska Airlines Field at Husky Stadium in Seatle at 7:30 p.m. PT. ESPN will televise the contest.
Washington leads the all-time series, 56-41-4, including wins in each of the last two contests between the teams in 2021 and 2022 that followed a two-game Cal win streak in the series in 2018 and 2019. The teams did not play during the 2020 campaign due to COVID-19.
Both recent Golden Bears wins came in dramatic fashion over ranked Washington teams. Evan Weaver's interception return for a touchdown sparked a 12-10 win in Berkeley in 2018 over a No. 15 Huskies squad before Cal was a 20-19 winner in Seattle in 2019 over No. 14 Washington in a game that ended at 1:22 a.m. PT following a two-hour and 39-minute lighting delay in the first quarter. Greg Thomas' 17-yard field goal with 0:08 remaining won it for the Bears.

Washington (2-0) is currently the nation's eighth-ranked team in both the AP Top 25 and AFCA Coaches Poll heading into its game at Michigan State (2-0) this Saturday, while Cal (1-1) hosts Idaho (2-0) at California Memorial Stadium also this Saturday in its final regular-season nonconference game of the campaign.
The kickoff times and television broadcast networks for all of Cal's remaining regular-season games in 2023 are scheduled to be announced either six or 12 days in advance. After visiting Washington, Cal will host back-to-back contests against Arizona State (Sept. 30) and Oregon State (Oct. 7) before visiting Utah (Oct. 14). Following a bye week, Cal returns to action at home against USC (Oct. 28) then travels to Oregon (Nov. 4) and welcomes Washington State for its final home game of the campaign (Nov. 11). The Bears finish their regular season with back-to-back road contests in the Big Game at Stanford (Nov. 18) and in the Rose Bowl against UCLA (Nov. 25).
