BERKELEY – The California women's soccer team battled to a scoreless tie with visiting Boston College on Sunday at Edwards Stadium. The Golden Bears have now collected three straight shutouts for the first time since 2022 and have come away with a result in nine consecutive matches.
The sixth shutout of the year for Cal (6-1-6, 2-0-2 ACC) came during its MS Awareness match where it partnered with Multiple Stadium for Multiple Sclerosis to raise funds and awareness for the disease.
Donations can still be made as the organization works towards its goal of $5,000 and the silent online auction will remain open until Saturday at noon.
Six shutouts is a new season high for Bears goalkeeper, senior
Teagan Wy, who picked up four saves for the 9th time this season. All four saves came in the first half as the Eagles (4-3-5, 0-2-2) were held to zero shots on goal in the second period. Wy has only allowed two goals in ACC play and ranks third in the conference with 51 saves.
The gritty, physical match that featured 20 total fouls and three yellow cards, all by the Eagles, was highlighted entirely by both team's defenses as neither team had many promising opportunities to score. Cal committed just one foul in the first half but had 10 in the second.
BC edged out the Bears in the shot battle 12-11 and both teams put four on frame. Cal used a short bench with eight Bears playing all 90 minutes.
Cal is back on the road this Sunday at SMU. Kick off is set for 11 a.m. PT/1 p.m. CT on ACCNX.
