MORAGA / BERKELEY - The California Golden Bears (7-5) defeated Saint Mary's 5-0 in Moraga then defeated Pacific 4-0 at Hellman Tennis Complex on Saturday. 

To begin the morning, Cal traveled to Saint Mary's and took a 1-0 lead after doubles wins on courts one and three. On court one, Tiago Silva and Timofey Stepanov won 6-2, while teammates Alex Aney and Leonardo Cattaneo clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 victory.

In singles play against the Gaels, freshman Winston Lee gave the Bears their second point of the day with a 6-2, 6-1 straight-set victory on court six. Next, sophomore Fryderyk Lechno-Wasiutynski claimed the Bears' third point of the day with a 6-2, 6-2 straight-set victory on court one. Finally, Timofey Stepanov and Lenn Luemkemann simultaneously won their individual matches in straight sets to secure the victory for the Golden Bears. Luemkemann's victory on court four was his first singles win as a Bear.

In the afternoon against Pacific, Cal took another 1-0 lead after wins on courts two and three. On court two, Lechno-Wasiutynski and Andrea Meduri won 6-0, while Aney and Luemkemann clinched the doubles point with a 6-0 victory of their own.

In singles play against the Tigers, Lechno-Wasiutynski and Paris Pouatcha extended the Bears' lead with straight-set victories on courts six and one. Sophomore Bernardo Munk Mesa secured the victory for the Bears with a 7-5, 6-3 victory.

Next: The Bears will open their Atlantic Coast Conference slate at Duke and North Carolina on Feb. 27 and March 1, respectively.
