BERKELEY - Senior defender Erin Magill helped lead the Bears to a 3-0 showing in the NorPac Tournament and earned Cal its first berth in the NCAA post season since 2006, making her this week's California Student-Athlete of the Week.
Magill was instrumental in preserving a pair of shutouts to cap the tournament run. She took on a Stanford breakaway late in the game, stopping the attack to preserve the shutout.
In addition to Magill's strong defensive stand, she also tied for the team's offensive lead, scoring three goals in the tournament, including what would come to be the game-winner five minutes into the Stanford game.
Magill, a fifth-year senior, chose to come back and use her final season of eligibility in order to lead the team to the NCAA's, which she did Saturday afternoon.
