vlcsnap-3961.jpgThe Bear Blog caught up with Mike Mohamed in Pasadena on the eve of West Coast Pac-10 Media Day after Cal's preseason All-American linebacker had made the journey down to Southern California on Wednesday

Mohamed caught a late afternoon flight, checked in at his hotel, grabbed some dinner at a local restaurant and then was still nice enough to give Bear Blog a few minutes of his time before we let him get some rest for his big day of interviews on Thursday.

Here's some of what we asked ...

Bear Blog: Tell us a little bit about your day today.
Mike Mohamed: Well I had class that went until 3:30 p.m. Once I got done with class, I just kind of got packed up and ready to go. My flight left around 7, I got here a little after 8, got a little dinner and about to hit the hay to get ready for a long day tomorrow.

BB: What are you expecting Thursday at media day?
MM: 30-40 interviews, it's going to be a grind (laughter), but I think I can get through it.

BB: What question do you fear the most at media day and how are you going to handle it?
MM: A lot of people ask about predictions or how bad you're going to beat a team, but that's something you want to stay away from. You don't want to build any of that controversy, because that just gives the media something to talk about leading up to that game.

BB: What's the craziest question you've ever been asked?
MM: Actually, I think the funniest question I've ever been asked was actually in class. Somebody asked me if we studied "The Play." If you knew anything about football, you'd know that "The Play" was just a bunch of random pitchbacks ... laterals ... it just happened by chance. For somebody to ask if we studied the play was kind of funny.

BB: What are you looking forward to in 2010?
MM: Just some great game play from the Cal Bears. Especially at home, because we really appreciate all the fans coming out. Two years ago we went undefeated at home and that's what we want to try to replicate.
