BERKELEY, Calif. – California track & field wrapped up their home slate with 15 wins on the second day of competition at the Brutus Hamilton Challenge at Edwards Stadium.

Garrett Corcoran stood out in the Don Bowden Mile competition as he recorded the ninth-fastest time in school history with a mark of 4:00.83. Corcoran raced out to the early lead and never looked back, but the Villa Park native was seeking to join the exclusive club of six men who have gone under four minutes in the mile in school history. However, he came up just short as the crowd cheered him on down the final stretch.

The women ran the Marilyn Davis 1500m and freshman Brie Oakley stood out for the Bears. She started fast and finished with a time of 4:26.80 to set a new personal best. Annie Boos joined her on the podium with a third-place finish of 4:29.39 while setting a personal best as well.

The Bears were close to having a school record topple for the second consecutive day as Lauren Martinez cleared 13-7.25. Martinez, currently second in the school's record book, attempted to go for the new school record, but just missed clearing the bar and had to settle for winning her fourth competition of the year.

McKay Johnson won both the shot put and discus competitions as he threw 63-9.50 in the shot put and 176-2 in the discus. Peter Simon recorded a season-best with a mark of 63-6.00 in his final home meet.

The triple jump tandem of Isabella Marten and Ashley Anderson took the top two spots while saying goodbye to the Edwards Stadium crowd. Marten won with a leap of 42-2.00 while Anderson finished second with a jump of 42-0.00. Marten also won the long jump competition, jumping 19-3.25.

Matt Schwartz tied for the win in the pole vault as the senior recorded a personal best clearance of 16-0.75. Schwartz was participating in his final meet in front of the home crowd and came away with his best jump.

After the meet, Cal honored the 18 student-athletes who are graduating and will not return to the program: Ashley Anderson, Imani Bierly, Amarie Bremel, Asia Chesley, Asha Culhane, Ashtyn Davis, Katherine Haysbert, Eugene Hamilton III, Natalie Herberg, John Hogan, Max Leach, Isabella Marten, Destiny Parker, Matt Schwartz, Emma Seyer, Peter Simon, Nuria Tio Peig and Cameron Tu.

With finals on the horizon the Bears will send a limited number of participants to a couple different meets next weekend. The Pac-12 Championship gets underway with the combined events on May 5-6. Cal also will look towards the Payton Jordan Invitational on May 3 and the Sacramento Open on May 5 as they look to record national marks heading into the Pac-12 Championship on May 12-13.
