The 83rd-ranked Molloy – the fourth seed – defeated VCU's Rayane Stable, 6-2, 6-7(8), 6-1, in the opening singles round of 64 and paired with Cal senior Bjorn Hoffmann to beat FAU's Alvaro Fernandez Horta and Thomas Guy, 8-3, in the first round doubles. Cal's top-seeded and defending champion pair of Paul Barretto and Can Kaya – also ranked 58th – earned a bye in the first round and advanced to the round of 16.

The 121st-ranked Barretto – the fifth seed in singles – topped Marquette's Brett Meyers, 6-3, 6-4, to join Molloy in the round of 32. But Hoffmann fell in singles to Wisconsin's Lenard Soha in a tight match, 7-5, 5-7, 7-5, and Kaya lost to the Badgers' Robert Krill, 7-6(6), 6-3, on Friday.
