A four-time All-American and national collegiate champion in both 7s and 15s during his Golden Bear career from 2009-13, Barrett was a multi-year mainstay on the USA National 7s Team on the World Series of Sevens circuit prior to his selection to the Team USA Olympic roster for Rugby 7s, the version of the sport that returns to the Olympics in Rio for the first time since 1924. Barrett was a member of the 2011 national collegiate 15s champion Rugby Bears and helped California win its first national title in the Olympic style of the game in 2013 at the Collegiate Rugby Championship. Also a veteran of the 2015 Rugby World Cup is the 15s style of the game, he received his degree from Cal in American Studies.
