Dean had a decorated career during his time at Cal, winning the IRA championship in the Freshman Eight in 2007 and then competing with the Varsity Eight as a senior and winning another IRA crown. Dean’s Freshman Eight boat also won the Pac-10 championship in 2007. This is Dean’s second Olympic appearance, having finished ninth in the quadruple event in 2012. He also won a pair of gold medals at the 2015 Pan American Games and took second at the 2008 World Rowing U23 Championships.
