Ashley Walker averaged 21.0 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 2.0 apg, 2.0 bpg and 1.0 spg to lead Cal to victories over Oregon and Oregon State over the weekend, earning the junior forward/center the honor of Muscle Milk California Student-Athlete of the Week.
With Cal trailing Oregon at halftime last Thursday, Walker came up with an outstanding second half, posting 17 points, five rebounds, one assist and one block, to help the Bears rally from a 29-23 deficit with 17:19 remaining in the game. Walker scored four straight points to begin a 17-4 Cal run that put the Bears ahead 40-33 at the 10:01 mark.
After leading all scorers with 25 points against Oregon, Walker held game-high honors again against Oregon State on Saturday with 17 points.
Walker began the week ninth in school history in scoring and now stands eighth with 1,243 points. She is also approaching 700 career rebounds, as she now has 677, which is the most by any active Pac-10 player. Walker's steady play has helped Cal stay on pace with the 1983-84 Bears for the best start through 17 games in school history at 15-2. The Bears also are 6-0 in the Pac-10 for the first time in school history.
