Cal Success:

• Delivered one of the most memorable swims of the 2017-18 season with a third-place finish in the 1,650 free at the 2018 NCAA Championships.
• Outswam his seed time by nearly nine seconds to earn All-America honors in the 1,650, scoring 16 individual points and giving Cal a huge boost to begin the final evening session of the 2018 NCAA Championships.
• Final time of 14:30.82 at NCAAs shattered the Cal school record of 14:39.00 set by Jeremy Bagshaw in 2014.
• Also earned his first Pac-12 title in 2018, winning the 1,650 free in 14:39.77.
• Competed in the distance freestyle events for the Bears in 2016-17 and qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 1,650.
• Swam to the team's top times in both the 1,000 free (9:11.11) and 1,650 free (14:51.89) in 2016-17.
• Made an immediate impact for the Bears as a freshman in 2015-16, establishing himself as one of the team's top distance freestylers right away.
• Competed at the 2016 NCAA Championships in the 500 and 1,650 freestyle.
• Had the team's top times of the 2016 season in both the 1,000 (9:05.64 at USC) and 1,650 (14:52.66 at NCAA).

High School/Club/National Success: 

• Placed fifth in the 800-meter freestyle and ninth in the 1500 freestyle during at the 2014 Junior Pan Pacific Championships.
• Won the silver medal in the 1500-meter freestyle at the 2013 Speedo Junior National Championships.
• Attended Capistrano Valley High School and was named All-Orange County in the 500 freestyle by the Orange County Register after the 2015 season.
• Member of the Mission Viejo Nadadores coached by Bill Rose was club teammates with fellow Cal distance freestyler Janardan Burns.

Personal:

• Intended Molecular and Cell Biology (MCB) major with intention to go Pre-Med.
• Parents Brent and Denise both work in the medical field.
• Has two siblings, Lucas and Brandon. Lucas Norman swam for UC Santa Barbara.
