SEATTLE, Wash. – California track & field won three MPSF Championships and placed eight Bears on the school's all-time top-10 list on a busy second day at Dempsey Indoor. The men's team moved up the standings to finish in a tie for third alongside Oregon and USC with 63 points. The women's squad finished in a tie for 10th with Utah as they tallied 23 points.

Jasher Foster claimed the first individual championship of the day for the Bears as he won the 60m hurdles. Foster blazed to the fourth-fastest time in school history as he raced to the finish line in 7.85 seconds. The Cal newcomer earned the 60m hurdle championship for the third straight year as Ashtyn Davis won the past two titles in the event. Foster ranks behind Davis, Milan Ristic and Ray Stewart in school history. Misana Viltz took fourth for the Bears as he finished in 8.01 to add five points to Cal's team total.

Tuomas Kaukolahti won the MPSF Championship for the second straight year as he leaped 16.17m/53-0.75 on his third attempt. Kaukolahti has now gone undefeated in five triple jump competitions at Dempsey Indoor winning three during the 2018 season and two during the 2019 season. Freshman Jalyn Jackson took third place with a leap of 50-9.50. That mark tied Jackson for the ninth-best time in school history as he helped the Bears earn 16 points in the event.

Tyler Brendel won the MPSF Championship after two grueling days of the heptathlon competition. Brendel tallied 5553 points over seven events, which was the 13th-best mark in the country coming into championship weekend. Brendel will look to stay within the top 16 after this weekend's competition to earn a spot at the NCAA Championship. Brendel sat in first after the first day of competition. He took fourth in the 60m hurdles and followed that with a second place finish in both the pole vault and the 1000m to close out the title.

McKay Johnson reset his own school record in the shot put as he took second place on Saturday. Johnson had a massive personal best as he threw 20.47m/67-2.00. That mark was nearly 2.5 feet further than Johnson's previous best and was one of four throws that Johnson had that surpassed the previous school record. Johnson scored eight points for the Bears and teammate Joshua Johnson added a point with his own personal best. Joshua Johnson threw six inches further than his previous best with a throw of 59-9.50. He moved to sixth on the school's all-time shot put list.

Paramveer Chohan set a school record in the 400m as he raced to a time of 46.78 on Saturday afternoon. Chohan took second overall and earned eight points. He finished second in his heat to the champion Michael Bluth, but Chohan's mark bettered Darren Woods' mark of 46.90, which stood as the school record since 2005.

Deshae Wise and Jackie Patterson both took sixth in their respective short sprints. Wise took sixth in the women's 60m hurdles competition as she finished in 8.41. She clocked 8.38 in the prelims yesterday to move into third on the school's all-time list. Patterson took sixth in the 60m with a time of 7.52, just off yesterday's prelims time of 7.51. That mark put Patterson in fourth place in the school record book as both added three points to the team's total.

The Bears had multiple student-athletes who claimed a spot on the school's all-time top 10. Benjamin Micallef had the eighth-best 800m time in school history as he ran 1:51.57.  Andrew Burkhardt claimed the 10th spot in the mile as he ran 4:05.36. Mina Anglero took the 10th spot in the women's 800m with a time of 2:11.53.

Camryn Rogers won the weight throw title on the first day of the MPSF Championship to bring Cal's total to four individual titles. The Bears had eight marks on the school's all-time top 10 list on the first day, totaling 16 top-10 marks for the two-day event.

Cal will be back in action next weekend as they open the outdoor season with the Cal Outdoor Opener at Edwards Stadium. The indoor season will conclude on March 8-9 with the NCAA Indoor Championship. All the Bears that claimed a spot in the top 16 of the national rankings will earn a berth in Birmingham, Alabama.
