Bears Inch Closer To School Records
Freshman David Foster And Senior Ben Micallef Move To Second All-Time
Don Kirby Elite Invitational Results | Husky Classic Results
Cal track & field finished up their split-squad weekend on Saturday afternoon with more successes for the program, recording 5 all-time Top 10 marks and three Top-3 finishes on the day to build momentum as they look toward the indoor regular-season finale.
At the Don Kirby Elite Invitational, two women and one man set new marks for Cal's all-time Top 10 lists. The first of these came from freshman
David Foster, who moved into sole possession of Cal's second-fastest 60m dash time with his finish of 6.74. Senior
Felicia Renelus, who placed second in the triple jump, claimed the eighth-farthest leap in program history with her best jump of 12.65m (41-5.75), while junior
Amari Turner vaulted 3.97m (13-0.25) in the pole vault to earn the fifth-best spot on that particular list.
At the Husky Classic, two more men reached new heights on the Bears' Top 10 lists. Senior
Ben Micallef posted a new Maltese national record in the 800m dash, finishing with a second-place time of 1:49.07 that moved him up to second-best for the program all-time. Freshman
Garrett MacQuiddy placed 9
th out of 84 finishers in the men's mile run, posting a time of 4:01.02 that stands as the 6
th-fastest in Cal history.
"We definitely started off on the right foot," said assistant coach
Bobby Lockhart, who traveled with the distance runners up to Seattle.
