Muscle Milk California Student-Athlete of the Week

April 21, 2008

BERKELEY -

Tim McNeill won NCAA individual championships on pommel horse and parallel bars Saturday evening at Stanford's Maples Pavilion - his third national title on the pommel horse, second on the parallel bars and fifth overall in his Golden Bear career - to make the senior all-around gymnast the Muscle Milk California Student-Athlete of the Week.

McNeill's five individual NCAA championships are the most in school history. He is also the first student-athlete in Cal history to to win two NCAA titles two years in a row.

His 15.625 on pommel horse and 15.650 on parallel bars successfully defended his 2007 titles on the same events. The two national titles mark the second and third national titles that California has won in the 2007-08 school year (the first being men's water polo).

With his first-place finishes, McNeill also earned All-America honors on the events.
