BOSTON – The 58th-ranked doubles team of Paul Barretto and Can Kaya defeated Virginia Tech's Henrik Korsgaard and Alex Ribeiro, 6-4, and California men's tennis won a total of four matches on the first day of Harvard's Chowder Fest, the annual tournament held at the Crimson's Murr Center. 

Barretto, a Cal junior, also prevailed in singles, with the 121st-ranked Golden Bear beating Virginia Tech's Michael Shepheard in three sets, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. The Barretto family was unbeaten on the day, with Cal senior Dominic

Barretto – Paul's older brother – topping Cornell's Joe McAllister, 6-2, 6-1. Kaya added a 6-1, 6-4 victory over the Hokies' Ryan Kros.

The Bears capped their Friday by attending the Cal women's basketball game at Harvard.
