Northnagel played in 29 games at long snapper all off the bench and did not make an errant snap while contributing three tackles all over his final three seasons with the program after redshirting as a 2012 true freshman and not playing as a 2013 redshirt freshman. Northnagel became the team's full-time starter at long snapper at the beginning of his 2015 junior campaign and played in all 25 contests possible over his final two seasons making every snap at the position during the period. He previously worked with both the offensive and defensive lines as well as at fullback.

• One of two long snappers in the country that were invited to and participated in the 2017 NFL Combine, registering 11 reps of 225 pounds in the bench press, a time of 5.30 in the 40-yard dash, a vertical jump of 25.5 inches and a broad jump of 8'3".

• Earned honorable mention Pac-12 All-Academic honors and was Cal's nominee for the Pac-12 Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year award as a senior both for the first time
• Changed to the No. 48 uniform he finished his career in beginning with his 2013 sophomore season after he wore No. 98 during his first campaign with the program during the 2012 season and 2013 spring practices

• A first-team All-San Mateo County and honorable mention All-West Catholic Athletic League selection as well as his team's Most Improved Player as a 2011 senior on a Central Coast Section Division I championship squad that finished 11-2 overall
• Played tight end, defensive end/outside linebacker and long snapper
• Contributed four receptions for 95 yards receiving including a diving catch in the back of the end zone in a playoff game against Milpitas during his senior campaign, as well as seven tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.0 sack on the defensive side of the ball
• Also played baseball and basketball, earning second-team All-Peninsula honors on the diamond as a 2012 senior when he was 4-1 with an 0.45 ERA on the mound, striking out 18 batters in 27.2 innings of work for a team that won the WCAL title when he pitched 6.0 scoreless innings in the league championship game
