Garner played in four games off the bench during his 2014 redshirt freshman and 2015 sophomore seasons over his four campaign at Cal from 2013-16 and totaled five tackles all as a redshirt freshman after he redshirted in his first campaign at Cal as a true freshman in 2013. His father, Dwight Garner, was a four-year letterwinner at Cal from 1982-85 and made one of the five laterals during “The Play” as a freshman, while also leading the team in punt returns as a 1983 sophomore, receiving as a 1984 junior, and kick returns as both a sophomore and junior.

• Played in five games off the bench during his final three seasons at Cal over his four campaigns with the program from 2013-16 and had five total tackles all as a redshirt freshman after he redshirted in his first campaign at Cal as a true freshman in 2013

• Contributed 24 tackles, one fumble recovery and two passes defended as a junior when his squad was 11-1 overall and 8-0 in 3A District 8 competition
• Also ran the 300 meter hurdles, while participating on the University School’s basketball team
