Garner played in four games off the bench during his 2014 redshirt freshman and 2015 sophomore seasons over his four campaign at Cal from 2013-16 and totaled five tackles all as a redshirt freshman after he redshirted in his first campaign at Cal as a true freshman in 2013. His father, Dwight Garner, was a four-year letterwinner at Cal from 1982-85 and made one of the five laterals during “The Play” as a freshman, while also leading the team in punt returns as a 1983 sophomore, receiving as a 1984 junior, and kick returns as both a sophomore and junior.

• Had 35 tackles, one interception that he returned 15 yards and two passes defended during his senior campaign on a squad that won the Florida 3A state title and finished with a 13-0 overall record and a 3-0 3A District 8 mark, while picking up the state’s No. 3 ranking, a No. 10 Xcellent 25 ranking and a No. 24 national ranking according to MaxPreps
• Contributed 24 tackles, one fumble recovery and two passes defended as a junior when his squad was 11-1 overall and 8-0 in 3A District 8 competition
• Also ran the 300 meter hurdles, while participating on the University School’s basketball team
