Borrayo is a national honors candidate for the second consecutive season as a 2016 senior and listed as the starter at the left guard position on the preseason depth chart. He has started 29 games over the past three campaigns at left guard including a career-high 13 as a 2015 junior with his 29 career starts the second-most by any Cal player to fellow senior Cal offensive lineman Steven Moore’s 36 and his games played fourth among the team’s active players. Borrayo is one of four returning starting offensive lineman along with Aaron Cochran, Dominic Granado and Steven Moore that helped Cal set numerous records in 2015 including single-season school marks for passing yardage (4,892), passing yards per game (376.3 ypg), passing touchdowns (44) and scoring offense (37.9 ppg, modern-era record), among others. He led a 2015 offensive line for a Cal offense that ranked third nationally in passing offense, eighth in total offense and 17th in scoring offense, with all of the numbers second in the Pac-12. Borrayo is Cal’s most decorated offensive linemen, having been named honorable mention All-Pac-12 from the league’s coaches and third-team by Phil Steele during both his sophomore and junior seasons while adding third-team recognition from College Sports Madness as a junior.

• Helped protect quarterback Jared Goff, who started all 37 of the Golden Bears' games at quarterback from 2013-15 and set 26 school records including career marks for passing yardage (12,220), touchdown passes (96), total offense (12,086) and completions (977)

• A two-time first-team All-Southern Section Southeast Division and All-San Gabriel Valley League selection in his final two campaigns as a junior and senior in 2011 and 2012
