Rivera played in 11 games off the bench in his first action at Cal as a 2015 junior and contributed three receptions for 101 yards and one touchdown on a 63-yard catch in the season-opener vs. Grambling State that was Cal's third-longest pass play of the season and fourth-longest play from the line of scrimmage overall. He is listed as the No. 3 player at the "Y" inside receiver position on the 2016 preseason depth chart. Rivera is the nephew of current Carolina head coach Ron Rivera, a two-time AP NFL Coach of the Year who won a Super Bowl as a player with Chicago and reached the game as Carolina's head coach after an All-American career for the Golden Bears that put him in the Cal Athletic Hall of Fame.
