California Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week

BERKELEY - Caitlin Leverenz starred in two meets in the state of Georgia for second-ranked and defending NCAA champion California, making her this week's California Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week.

The junior from Tucson, Ariz., won the 200-meter individual medley (2:09.39) on Dec. 1 and the 400-meter individual medley (4:37.68) Dec. 2 in the AT&T Winter National Championships in Atlanta. She then captured the 400-yard IM, 100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard breaststroke and 200-yard butterfly from Dec. 3-4 in the Georgia Fall Invitational in Athens, Ga. Leverenz set school records and swam automatic NCAA qualifying times in winning the 400 IM (4:00.59) and 100 breast (59.20) in Athens.

She also posted automatic NCAA qualifying times in capturing the 200 breast (2:07.06) and 200 fly (1:53.78) at the Georgia Fall Invitational, in which the Bears finished second with 745.5 points.
