Piatt has played in 13 games with five starts during an injury-plagued career but still leads all active players with four interceptions while ranking second with eight pass breakups and 12 passes defended. Despite injuries he recorded a team-high three interceptions and a team co-leading nine passes defended in the first action of his collegiate career as a 2014 sophomore, while adding 40 tackles and six pass breakups. Piatt began his career as a walk-on wide receiver before moving to safety midway through his 2013 redshirt freshman season and began to emerge as one of the team’s top safeties during 2014 spring practices.

• Announced his medical retirement from football on July 14, 2016, after a series of injuries plagued his collegiate career that he finished by playing in 13 games with five starts with all of his action coming during his 2014 sophomore and 2015 junior campaigns before season-ending injuries both seasons after he redshirted as a 2012 true freshman and didn't play as a 2013 redshirt freshman due to injury
• Finished his career with four interceptions that he has returned for seven yards, while adding 61 tackles, 1.0 tackles for loss (-12 yards), 1.0 sack (-12 yards), eight pass breakups and 12 passes defended
• Had his lone career fumble recovery as a sophomore at UCLA
