Trani spent two seasons with Cal football as a 2014 true freshman and 2015 redshirt freshman before medically retiring from football prior to the 2016 campaign. Trani earned first-team Long Beach Press-Telegram Football Dream Team, second-team All-Suburban League and honorable mention Whittier Daily News All-Area recognition as a 2013 prep senior after playing on back-to-back Suburban League champions during his 2011 sophomore and 2012 junior seasons while his squad made the postseason each of his final three prep campaigns.
