Artman was a member of the Cal football program for two injury-plagued seasons in 2014 and 2015 before leaving the program following the 2015 campaign. Artman did not see any playing time during those two campaigns. He played as a prep during his 2012 junior season for a Division III Central Coast Section title squad and participated on the winning team in the Competitive Elite Literacy Classic after his 2013 senior campaign.

• Played for a junior squad that won the Division III CCS title and finished 8-6 overall while ranking No. 10 in the state of California in rushing with an average of 317.8 yards per game
